Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Questionnaire

At Engage, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is prescribed and required by all our host clients sites. It is essential that employees can demonstrate the correct usage, maintenance and application of PPE as required.

What is the correct way to wear lace-up steel capped boots for optimal protection?*
- Lace the boots loosely to allow air circulation.
- Lace the boots tightly and ensure they cover the ankles.
- Wear them with the laces untied for easy removal.
- Only wear them when handling heavy machinery.
When wearing a cotton drill, high visibility shirt, what is the key consideration for ensuring visibility?*
- Tuck the shirt into the pants to keep it neat.
- Wear the shirt over a jacket to maintain warmth.
- Ensure the high visibility stripes are not obstructed by other clothing or accessories.
- Wear the shirt only during the day.
How should long cotton drill work pants be worn for safety?*
- Roll up the pants to knee length for better movement.
- Tuck them into your boots to prevent tripping hazards.
- Wear them loosely around the waist.
- Cut the pants to shorts if it's hot.
What is the correct procedure for inserting ear plugs?*
- Push them straight into the ear canal.
- Roll the ear plug into a small, thin shape and insert it into the ear canal, then hold it in place until it expands.
- Only insert them halfway into the ear canal.
- Insert them quickly without rolling to avoid contamination.
How should a breathing apparatus mask be worn to ensure proper sealing?*
- Place the mask loosely over the face.
- Secure the mask snugly over the nose and mouth, adjusting the straps to ensure a tight seal.
- Wear the mask under the chin.
- Position the mask so that it rests on the neck.
What is the proper way to wear a hard hat?*
- Wear it backwards for a better fit.
- Wear the hard hat with the brim facing forward and adjust the suspension system to fit snugly on your head.
- Leave it loose so it can be easily removed.
- Wear it only when entering a construction zone.
What is the correct way to wear safety glasses?*
- On top of your head until needed.
- On the bridge of your nose, ensuring they cover your eyes completely.
- Below the eyes for comfort.
- Only when you are working with tools.
How should protective overalls be worn to ensure maximum coverage?*
- Leave the top unzipped for ventilation.
- Fully zip up the front and ensure sleeves and legs are down, covering all clothing underneath.
- Wear them over other bulky clothing.
- Roll up the sleeves for better mobility.
